One Year Blog Anniversary!

It's my 1 year blog anniversary! Come take a trip down memory lane with me + get the inside scoop on what's to come!

They say that time flies when you’re having fun, and boy are “they” right! Exactly one year ago today, on April 11, 2015, I hit that “publish” button on my very first blog post. Today, I’m taking you on a little trip down memory lane. I’m also giving you a sneak peek into some upcoming plans that I can’t wait to share!

I almost don’t recognize that Kara from a year ago. She was fed up with her “real job”, ready to make a change, and terrified beyond belief that she would fail. She took a giant leap of faith that day… not knowing what would come of it. She wondered if this silly blog idea would be just another failure.

While I see traces of myself in her (the courage to go for it anyway, for example), I stand in awe of the transformation that she was about to go through.

Some days I wish that I could reach back in time and let her know that everything was going to be OK. The new-age mystic part of my brain tells me that maybe I did. Maybe “future me” was that nagging voice in my head back then that said “Kara! You need to do this!”

Either way, I’m happy that I pushed that button. I’m happy that I took that leap of faith, and jumped into a world that I knew nothing about. I’m happy that I stepped way out of my comfort zone and allowed myself to grow in ways that I never even knew was possible before.

It's my 1 year blog anniversary! Come take a trip down memory lane with me + get the inside scoop on what's to come!

When I began writing this blog one year ago, my plan was for it to be a place for me to share more about the design process behind my jewelry shop.

But I didn’t have a clue what I was doing when it came to blogging.

Thoughts on Prosperity: Create an Abundance Mentality @

I gradually started to find my voice over the next few months, and on June 10th, I wrote my very first personal development post.

Thoughts on Prosperity: How to Create an Abundance Mentality was a turning point for this little blog of mine. I realized that I loved writing about self improvement.

As soon as I started writing about the topics that I was passionate about (like this one, this one, and this one), the blog started to take on a life of its own.

Before I knew it, Boho Berry was gaining traction, and I was slowly starting to come into my own as a writer.

Income & Traffic 06.2015

On July 2nd, I tentatively published my very first Traffic & Income Report. My goal was to give you an insider’s perspective, and to show you a baby blog’s progress from the very beginning.

I had a whopping 3,067 pageviews during that first month of tracking. 10 months later, I’m happy to report that this “little” blog has received 2,853,931 pageviews and over 5,000 comments to date!

I have faithfully continued my monthly traffic & income reports each and every month since then, and it’s something that I will continue as a way to inspire and educate other newbie bloggers along the way.

Bring more mindfulness & gratitude into your daily life with a Bullet Journal! Here's how I did it.

On August 13th, I wrote my very first Bullet Journal post. I wasn’t quite prepared for how much this little blog post would take off. This is the post that put my on the map as a Bullet Journalist, and although my photography skills left much to be desired at the time, I love it dearly.

Since then, I have written over 30 posts related to bullet journaling. I found my online home within the Bullet Journal community, and I feel SO blessed every day to have joined such an amazing online family!

The Bullet Journal system has changed my life for the better in so many ways. Through it, I met my blogging bestie (Kim), and have teamed up with Jessica & Dee as well!

This past year has been full of highlights and new experiences for me. Here’s just a few:

There are a LOT of exciting new things happening here at Boho Berry in the near future! I’ve spent the past year creating content and providing value to the community. I wholeheartedly promise you that will never stop, but with continued growth comes new challenges and opportunities as well.

I have been asked time and time again if I would ever consider creating stickers and printables from some of the designs in my Bullet Journal, and I’m happy to announce that YES… it’s finally happening!

Boho Berry Paperie will be launching on May 1st, and it will be chock full of stickers, coloring pages, stationery, and more… all lovingly hand-drawn with your planner in mind!

If you’d like to get the latest updates on the shop, be sure to follow the new @BohoBerryPaperie account on Instagram. There’s not much there yet, but the next couple of weeks will be exploding with activity!

Boho Berry TribeOne of my main goals since the very beginning was to make Boho Berry a community of like-minded folks working towards their goals and dreams.

I’ve welcomed over 12,000 members to the Boho Berry Tribe over the past year, and that number continues to grow daily.

In May, I’ll be launching the Boho Berry Tribe Facebook Group… a place where Tribe Members can come together and chat about their goals, dreams, bullet journals, and more.

If you want to be on the invite list, be sure to sign up today!

My BrandYou may have noticed recently, that I’ve changed the look of my blog graphics. This is all leading up to a massive site redesign next month.

For a long time, I’ve been feeling the itch to make Boho Berry more user-friendly. I want it to be easy to navigate, and even more representative of my brand’s personality.

Above all, I want the blog to evoke a sense of community, encouragement, and passion.

I’ll be trickling out some small changes here and there, but I’m aiming for a full overhaul by June 1st, so stay tuned!

I have a confession to make. I’m a workaholic. There. I said it. I’ve been keeping track of my hours lately and I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I’ve been putting in 50-60 hour work weeks in order to keep things humming along.

Aside from creating content for the blog, there’s YouTube videos to film, pictures to take and edit for Instagram, Tribe Newsletters to write, comments to reply to across all of my social media platforms… not to mention all the work that goes into launching a shop, re-designing a website, and trying to maintain a good work-life balance.

For months, I’ve known that this day was coming. The day where I just wouldn’t be able to do it all myself anymore. Luckily for me, one of my long-term readers reached out to me to offer a helping hand. I gladly hopped on Skype with her and we instantly hit it off.

Let me introduce you to Candace!

CandaceCandace lives in North Carolina with her husband, 3 kids and dog (Wilson).  She used to work in Financial Services and is now a stay-at-home mom.  She loves reading, knitting, hockey, bullet journaling, and pretty much all things geek.

Candace and I have been working together behind the scenes for about a week now, and let me tell you… it’s a match made in heaven!

During our first Skype meeting, we clicked instantly and I just knew  that she was the perfect fit as the first official member of the Boho Berry Team.

You’ll be seeing Candace in the comments section here on the blog, as well as in the Boho Berry Tribe Facebook Group (when it goes live next month). She’s going to be helping me with a slue of tasks like Social Media scheduling, responding to common questions & collaboration inquiries, and more.

This girl is a self-starter with loads of great ideas to streamline our workflow and create a better experience for you here at Boho Berry.

The best part? I’ll have more time to create yummy new blog articles, video tutorials, and more!

This “little” blog has grown into so much more than I could have ever imagined over the past year.

I can’t even begin to express the depth of gratitude I feel for each and every one of you. You have thanked me over and over again for the inspiration and motivation that I provide here. But I honestly feel that YOU have inspired and motivated ME.

You have been there for me, nurtured me, and fed my soul in more ways than you will ever know.

For that, I am eternally grateful.

Thanks Beth! I’m super excited to work with and learn from Kara. It’s going to be amazing.

  • Congrats on your blogiversary, Kara! It’s been great to watch your blog grow. Looking forward to many more years of being a faithful reader and supporter. =)

    • Thank you friend! It’s been such an adventure, and I’m so happy that you’re along with me for the ride, Laura :)

  • Betsy

Congratulations! Happy (Blog) Birthday! I found you just recently by falling down the rabbit hole. (I think maybe from the Postman’s Knock?) Your story really speaks to me as I am begging a similar journey of my own. (Today is day 2 of TMM) I look forward to watching your journey as I embark on my own.

    • Thanks, Betsy! Hooray for taking on TMM! It’s a life-changer for sure! :)

  • I only stumbled across your blog a couple of days ago but reading this just makes me feel so amazed for you and in awe of what you’ve managed to achieve. Talk about bigger and better things! Congratulations on an incredible year and here’s to more going foward. I’m looking forward to seeing what you (and Candace) come up with next… and very excited about your printables!

    • Candace – Boho Berry

      Thanks Lucy!

    • Thanks so much, Lucy! I don’t share any of this to brag, but rather to encourage and inspire others that it CAN be done. It’s a lot of hard work, but it truly is a labor of love. I’m beyond excited to have Candace on board and I’m looking forward to many years to come!

  • Ana

Wow, it is absolutely incredible and so inspiring what you’ve managed to build and create in just one short year! Congratulations on all your accomplishments. I wish you many more years of blogging and entrepreneurship ahead!

    • Thank you SO much Ana! I really appreciate your support and encouragement :)

  • I want to thank you for your honesty about your blog. I had registered a wordpress account the day I bought my first home – almost two years ago. I had written two whole posts and then decided it wasn’t for me. Since then, I’ve repeatedly thought about going back to it since I have continued a lot of home renovation, but thought it would be weird for me to post about what I have done, rather than blogging about it as I go. I also toyed with the idea of writing about mindful living and/or journaling, but I worried the mix would be too weird.

I stumbled across your blog after looking through the #bulletjournal tag on IG about a week ago. Your attitude is refreshing and made me realize that even if my blog is never successful, at least I will have tried – and that even if it is a mix of journaling, home improvement, and self improvement – its OKAY! Why? Because in the end, its for me. Since coming to this realization, I rebooted my blog this weekend and I’ve written and queued several posts in the past few days, and my journal is full of ideas for things to come.

Thank you so much for giving me the nudge to get back to it!

    • I can’t tell you how much I love hearing that, Katy! I happen to think that journaling/home improvement/self improvement sounds like a wonderful mix!

Please share your progress with me! I’d love to come check out your new baby blog and lend my support :)

  • Thank you SO much Beth! Your continued support means the world to me :)

  • Congrats & Happy Blog Birthday! You’ve done an amazing job so far, I can’t wait to see where the future takes you! <3

  • Lisa Canfield

I live in North Carolina too! Exciting! So glad for you and your blog and Candace. You are such an inspiration to me, Kara.

  • Brenda Mayorga

Congrats Kara on your success! I remember when I first stumbled upon one of your youtube videos back in December & I’ve loved all your work ever since! You’ve inspired me to keep working hard on my goals and one day too have my own blog where I can share all my projects that I dream of working on. Keep working hard and I wish you so much luck on everything you set your mind & heart to! :)

  • Gina Comer

Thank you for creating such a welcoming space! Welcome to Candace, I have a little yorkie poo that looks like Wilson’s twin. Much continued success to you both.

    • Candace – Boho Berry

Thank you Gina, I’m so excited.

    • That’s the plan, Gina… thanks! :)

  • Ronnie Sara Sanders

Congrats! I’m amazed and inspired by all the progress you have made as well! You are an amazing person! Also, welcome Candace, I look forward to getting to know you better. If you find you need anyone else to join your team (perhaps as a proof reader) I’d be glad to join ;)

    • Thanks so much! I’m sure there will be room to expand the team soon, so stay tuned :)

      • Ronnie Sara Sanders

I definitely will stay tuned! :D

    • Candace – Boho Berry

      Thanks for the warm welcome!

  • Candice

Congrats on your Blog Anniversary! So exciting. I have only been following for a little while, but am completely inspired. I drank the Kool-Aid and over the course of the last month or so, started bullet journaling, obtaining a small addiction to Goulet Pens, and just finished TMM. Now to put it into action! Thought about a blog once too, just not sure what to write about. Hope to see you this weekend at the Atlanta Pen Show! Welcome Candace as well! I know you’ll be a fantastic addition already (shared name sake). Can’t wait to see what is yet to come!

    • Thanks Candice! I’ll be there on Friday and Sunday so hopefully we’ll run into each other. Be sure to come say hi if you see me! Oh, and the Kool-Aid is delicious haha!

      • Candice

Absolutely, will do…. If we are “lucky” Facebook will notify us that we are nearby ;-)

    • Candace – Boho Berry

Thank you Candice, Kara got me addicted to Goulet Pens too!

  • I appreciate that more than you’ll ever know, Lisa! Hugs! :)

  • Happy blogiversary! I think I first read your blog when you wrote about bullet journaling and it inspired me to go back to my bullet journal and to try again and adjust it to fit my needs, and now I’ve been using it religiously since September! I can’t wait to see what else will happen on your blog! :)

  • Wangũi

I just read through ALL of your blog from the very beginning, after a friend recommended I check out your Bullet Journal in January…and I think I understand Boho Berry a lot better after having seen how it’s evolved (there’s more to it and you, than the Bullet Journal lol). Congratulations on finding your passion, and using it to ignite others as well Kara. Following (and being inspired) from across oceans and continents :-)

  • Rosanna Hay

Welcome Candace and thanks for helping Kara keep up the positive attitude. When the blog starts to become a chore I think that’s when the stress sets in. With your help I look forward to many more blog posts. I also seen on Instagram that somewhere in the future Mark will make an appearance. My husband loved his last post.

    • Candace – Boho Berry

Thanks Rosanna! Kara is so easy to work with, it’s been so fun!

  • Debbie Mendicino

I stumbled onto your site a little over a month ago and I can’t begin to tell you the wonderful positive impact you’ve had on me you are such an inspiration. Happy blog-a-versary and welcome Candace! I wish you both many more successful years. I look forward to all of your future projects.

    • Candace – Boho Berry

      Thanks Debbie!

  • Congrats Kara! We’ve been online buddies for a bit and it makes me so happy to see all of your success in just this past year. You are inspiring so many and helping people make changes to improve their lives. Keep it up girl!!!

  • Sarah Spencer

Congratulations, lady! I remember when you were first starting up this blog. :) I’m so happy that it’s not only grown into something bigger than you expected, but I’m so proud of all the hard work you’ve put into it. Blogging is NOT an easy world to just jump into. You are an inspiration for all us bloggers! <3

    • Aw, thanks Sarah! It’s crazy to think how much this little blog has grown since then. I’m so happy that you’ve stuck with me on this wild ride :) Hugs!

  • not_so_hip

Congratulations Kara! Thanks so much for all the inspiration and information.

  • You’ve done amazing things! Congrats on all your success. I’m looking forward to seeing your future.

  • Angel

HI Kara! Congratulations. Like the Kara you were one year ago, I am finding myself in the same point–ready to break from the monotonous “real” job, wanting to take a leap but terribly afraid of failure. Thank you for sharing your story with us. You are such an inspiration.

  • Dawne Mowbray

Again, you GO girl! Those of us who understand social media marketing can see You work hard. And you are doing a wonderful job. You have such a positive attitude (and it’s contagious). :-)

  • Happy blogoversary Kara!

  • Raluca

Hi Kara! Congratulations on your one year blogoversary ( well its a little more than that now). I actually came across your blog in June and it’s been such an inspiration! I haven’t started my own bullet journal yet, but I love looking at pictures of yours. Thank you for sharing your income reports, it’s great to see how a blog can grow. My friend and I have finally started a blog together a few days ago and being able to see the process through your blog, and what you shared made the whole thing less intimidating. Happy blogging!
