Epic Official Bullet Journal Review & Giveaway!

A couple of weeks ago, Ryder Carroll (the creator of the Bullet Journal) sent me an Official Bullet Journal Notebook. Even better? He sent me three of them. One to use, and two to give away to my followers.

He also sent three notebooks to Kim over at Tiny Ray of Sunshine. Of course, the two of us got to chatting and we decided to join forces to bring you an “Epic Official Bullet Journal Review & Giveaway”!

Kim has been using the official Bullet Journal notebook for some time now, so she put together a detailed review. She’s sharing her review and thoughts over on her blog today, so definitely head on over and check it out!

I’m planning on diving into mine when I switch notebooks (probably in May), but I couldn’t wait to film a little flip-through for you. In the video below, I check out the additional features that the official Bullet Journal has to offer:

The official Bullet Journal notebook is made by Leuchtturm1917. It is identical in size to the A5 LT1917s that I have been using since the beginning. It does include a few key features which really set it apart though. Here’s a breakdown of its features:

The Official Bullet Journal240 NUMBERED PAGES
Although the traditional LT has 249 pages, this one has only 240. The reason for this is that the official bujo has an additional page for the index, along with an 8-page guide at the back of the notebook.

The traditional LT comes with 2 bookmarks. Super handy for referencing your most-used spreads. The official bujo kicks this up a notch by adding an additional bookmark!

You’ve gotta admit – that logo looks pretty sweet!

The last 8 pages of the notebook house a wonderful guide to the Bullet Journal system. I loved reading through this guide as a refresher.

The index has been expanded to four pages. While I haven’t run out of room on the original 3-page index, I like that I have ample room and don’t have to worry about running out of space to index all of my collections.

Immediately following the index, there is a 4-page future log. I love that this dedicated space is there, and I’m already coming up with plenty of ideas for how to lay it out.

The Official Bullet JournalTHE BULLET JOURNAL KEY
The traditional Bullet Journal key is tucked right inside the front cover. In keeping with the customizable nature of the Bullet Journal, there is also room to create your own signifiers and add to the key as you see fit.

As with all other Leuchtturm notebooks, the official Bullet Journal comes with a sheet of archival stickers. These are great for labeling your notebook when you are finished, or even during use. I like to label my notebooks right away so that I can easily see their contents on the bookshelf.

The Official Bullet JournalEXPANDABLE BACK POCKET
Again, this is a normal feature of the Leuchtturm1917 notebooks. This pocket has come in handy for me many times. I like to keep important paperwork, tickets, reservation information, and more inside while I am traveling.

I just don’t have enough good things to say about this notebook! I can’t wait to dive into it when I set up my new Bullet Journal. The only feature I wish for is that it would come in different colors. I’m not the biggest fan of black notebooks, but I’m willing to put all of that aside for the additional features that the official Bullet Journal provides.

Want to get your hands on one of your own? You can purchase it right here :)

Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for! I can’t thank Ryder enough for giving me and Kim the opportunity to pay it forward to you with this giveaway. There are several entry methods in the widget below. Simply complete as many (or as few) as you like, and you’ll be good to go.

I love that Ryder had the presents of mind to designate 4 pages to the index- genius! And I love that it has three bookmarks. I can already see how that would come in handy! Thank you and Kim too for masterminding this giveaway.

  • I´ve recently found you on YouTube and have become quite interested in the bullet journal system, your book is definitely one to admire and I´m in the need to find a planning system for my small business, this might do the trick! Thank you so much for the opportunity and for the inspiration ;)

  • Trine Lykke

This is a lovely giveaway! I cross my fingers :D

  • Adrienne Robinson

Love your videos and crossing my fingers that I win one of the Leuchtturm1917 Bullet Journals! Your nails always look great. As a nail polish junkie, they inspire me to change my nail color quite frequently ;-)

  • Bee

I’ve had my bullet journal for nearly 2 months and I’m afraid to start because I don’t want to ruin the perfection! Do you have any advice for a first spread?

  • Roisin O’Hagan

thanks for making it international !!

  • Thank you so much to all three of you for this giveaway!! Extra space for the index, the perfect paper, the extra bookmarks, the reference guide, so much to be excited about. Thanks for the chance. You guys are amazing!

  • Love that Ryder was generous enough to give some to you and some to Kim. How wonderful. If I were to win (and I won’t.. because I historically never win anything, unlike one of my bothers who ALWAYS wins.. jerk lol).. I would give this one to my husband, who still hasn’t quite figured out the whole system yet. I think having the printed index, the key, and the guide in the back would be a huge help. <3

  • Em

I’ve been itching to start a bullet journal for some time now… I think it’s finally time to take the plunge!

  • Karen Wilkes

Thank you for the opportunity to win this amazing new journal. Also thank you for your wonderful videos., they are such an inspiration.

  • StudioWaite

Thank you once again for reaching out to people and help organize our life a little! I can’t express my gratitude enough.

  • k8seren

I love all of you and your posts are inspirational! Bullet journaling is helping me through the a rough time right now. I love the official one, just wish it came in colors! Can’t go wrong with basic black though. Good luck everyone!

  • Crotha

What me really irks with this journal, unfortunately, is that the page nr. 1 (and thus all odd pages) is on the left.
That just does not work. In no book the page nr 1 is on the left, why in the bujo journal?

    • I like page 1 on the left, that’s how I do mine. Makes sense to this scientist!

  • E Brown

So excited about the giveaway. I have to say, that the little BuJo I created in a FN is still my favorite. Nevertheless I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

  • So exited for this giveaway! I love your review of the official bullet journal and can totally see why this journal is so awesome for bullet journaling!

  • Karen

What a generous share by all 3 of you. Each of you share so much freely to inspire others. Thank you.

  • Gill

So excited about this giveaway and I LOVE that it is open internationally!

  • Tímea Kocsisné Nagy (Timi)

Keep up the excellent work getting people on board with journaling- I’ve found it to be my lifesaver.

    • There are other entry options besides FB, you do not have to complete them all to enter :)

  • Heather Alexander

I don’t use twitter – do I HAVE to tweet this to get any entries?

    • There are 8 other entry options :)

      • Heather Alexander

        Awesome sauce! Thanks chica! ☺

  • Jessica

I recently started keeping a bullet journal. I’ve found your blog and videos very helpful. I used to keep planners, but after a certain period, I kinda lose track and motivation to keep on going. I’m hoping that this time around I can keep on going. Thanks for the giveaway and for the useful content!

  • Amanda Lopez-Acosta

Im having a really hard time understanding the difference between:
    > = Task Migrated
    < = Task Scheduled

    can you help?

    • Mae-Mae Han

I think migrated would just mean “procrastinating” to do it on just any other not necessarily specific day. Scheduled would be intending and planning to do it on a specific day.

      • Amanda Lopez-Acosta

        LOVE THAT! YES! THANKS!!!!! :)

  • Lydia

Hello all, I’m new to the bullet journal community! Just discovered this brilliant note taking system! However does anyone know where to get affordable dot journal in Singapore? Practically these stuff are overpriced over here as they are shipped from USA or overseas. Do let me know! Thanks :)
