Well, hello there! November is turning out to be an epic month here at Boho Berry and I am SO excited today to offer you a sneak peek into my latest pet project — one that combines two of my favorite activities: planning and coloring.
If you had told me a few months ago that my artwork would be in such high demand in the form of coloring pages, I probably would have laughed in your face. Sure, I love to doodle and fill my Bullet Journal with pretty mandalas and other patterns. Drawing has been a form of meditation for me for quite some time now.
What I didn’t expect was the reaction I would get when I started sharing my art online. I had never really considered digitizing my drawings until my Instagram exploded with requests to color my designs. Shortly thereafter, I was approached to participate in this awesome project along with 4 other talented artists.
2016 COLOR LOVER’S WEEKLY COLORING CALENDAR
Before I dive in to showing you the previews, I thought it would be nice to introduce you to the other amazing artists that embarked on this journey with me over the past couple of months. I feel honored to be in their company!
*The following bios are taken directly from the book. I hope you’ll visit the links provided and show these talented girls some love!
Kara Benz, Boho Berry
When she’s not doodling, making jewelry, dreaming of summer or blogging at Boho Berry, you might find artist Kara Benz shopping for office supplies while humming Broadway show tunes. As a child, Kara remembers drawing “shape people”—shapes with arms, legs and faces. She loves coloring as a way to relax and describes her style as an eclectic mash-up of inspirations from various cultures. Her dream studio would be a loft with brick walls, exposed pipes and natural light streaming through huge windows. Kara’s blog inspires readers to lead a more centered, fulfilled and free-spirited life. Her book, Create Your Amazing Life (In Just 10 Minutes a Day), her handmade jewelry and meditation necklaces are available at bohoberry.wpengine.com and on Etsy at Boho Berry Shop. Eliza Jane Curtis, Morris and Essex
A native Mainer, artist Eliza Jane Curtis spent time in Brooklyn and Buenos Aires before returning to her home state where she and her family are renovating a historic farmhouse. From her home studio, Eliza designs and makes hand-printed scarves, greeting cards, tea towels and bags, among other sustainable goods. She’s inspired by folk art, world travels, vintage collections and memories of her childhood in the fields and forests of Maine. She is honored to accept custom and freelance work for wedding invitations, personal stationery, logo designs and illustrations.Morning walks with her daughter Hattie and her dog Laika, hikes in the White Mountains, baking cookies and sitting by a bonfire on a starry night are a few of Eliza’s favorite things. You can find information on all her projects at www.morrisessex.com. Follow her on Instagram @morrisandessex or visit her Etsy shop Morris & Essex.
Smitha Katti, The Shiny Nest
Color is artist Smitha Katti’s life and making things is her joy. With a math and engineering background and her head filled with creative ideas, Smitha is constantly doodling and jotting down thoughts on whatever scraps of paper are handy. As a Gemini, she loves to balance several projects at once. She takes photos and writes for her blog Smiling Colors, and develops tutorials for Fiskars. Her work has been published in magazines like Somerset Memories and Creating Keepsakes, and she has been on the design teams of Glitz, Jessica Sprague and Design Memory Crafts. Smitha lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two daughters and enjoys painting, baking and knitting. Her coloring pages and books are available at www.theshinynest.com and on Etsy (The Shiny Nest). See her DIY and craft projects on her blog (Smiling Colors) or follow her on Instagram @theshinynest.
Rachel Shayne Edelstein, Rachel Shayne Art
In Rachel Shayne’s skilled hand, fine-point pens bring to life a throwback to vintage fairy tale imagery. A graphic designer and illustrator who lives in the San Francisco Bay area, Rachel enjoys drawing ladies, reading, cycling and running. She is a raving fan of French pop artist Malika Favre. Rachel strives to live simply, minimize her belongings and draw as much as possible. For Rachel, coloring is all about flow and meditation. Look for her hand-drawn original illustrations on Etsy (Cards & Love Notes). Visit her website (www.rachelshayne.com) or follow her on Instagram @rachelshayne.
Jeanette Wummel, The Roots of Design
Michigan artist Jeanette Wummel traces her love of art back to time spent at her kitchen table watching her grandfather paint. When he gave her a canvas and paints of her own, Jeanette found her bliss. Now Jeanette shares her art with the world through her playful printable coloring pages, art and craft projects and original works. While her favorite color is brown, Jeanette loves that coloring appeals to all ages and lets the imagination wander to a place where dogs can be purple and cats neon pink. Jeannette named her business The Roots of Design in honor of her love of trees. Visit her site www.therootsofdesign.com and see her work on Etsy (Roots of Design).
