I’m Listening! Upcoming Changes + More

I'm Listening!

Earlier this week, I posted here to ask you for some help… and BOY did you deliver! The 2016 Boho Berry Reader Survey has received over 500 responses! That’s almost half of the survey responses that I received in the entire 30 days that last year’s survey was live!!! Thank you!

I’ve been pouring over your responses as they come in, trying to keep up, and I’ve already started to notice some overarching themes. I’ll have a breakdown post of ALL of the responses next month, but I wanted to address some clear issues right away.

In addition to asking the fun questions like “Why do you read the Boho Berry Blog?”, I thought it was important to ask the tough questions too.

The one that I’ve been focusing on is “If I’m being completely honest, one specific critique I have is…”

This little question is both the hardest one to read the answers to AND the most valuable. By making the survey anonymous, I hoped to get some honest “gut answers”. I was definitely not disappointed.

Most of the “gripes” have been along two common themes, so I wanted to address those in this post right away.

NEW FORMAT FOR MONTHLY CHALLENGES:

One of the biggest negatives was the fact that the monthly challenge posts are redundant each month – and I agree!

I brainstormed some solutions to this problem and decided to create stand-alone landing pages for each one of the monthly challenges that I host. I will be updating these pages at the end of each month to reflect the next month’s challenge, thereby eliminating some of the “fluff” in my blog feed.

The caveat to this is that if you subscribe to my feed, you will no longer be notified when a new challenge goes live. Of course, I’ll be sharing across social media still, but if you rely on a feed reader to notify you of new posts, please note that the challenge posts will no longer show up.

On a desktop computer, you will see these two new pages in the navigation menu:

On mobile devices, you will need to select the “Menu” option at the top of your screen and then scroll down until you see the challenges at the end of the menu:

Clicking on either the #PlanWithMeChallenge or #RockYourHandwriting will take you to each challenge’s respective page. There, you’ll be able to see the current month’s challenge, download the printables, plus scroll through a feed of all of the past month’s challenges at the bottom.

POSTING SCHEDULE:

In the past months, I have been majorly slacking on my posting consistency.

I could give you a million reasons — from my shop opening to travel, to placing a heavy emphasis on video content — but the bottom line is that I have not been posting here on the blog on a regular basis.

I want to fix that!

Starting in January, when I get back from vacation, I’ll have a new posting schedule:

MONDAYS: New YouTube video

TUESDAYS: New  blog post

FRIDAY: New YouTube video with a companion blog post

This new schedule will allow me to focus on creating more content for you that you’re craving, while still maintaining my other responsibilities with the shop and at home.

SPEAKING OF VACATION…

This coming Friday, we’re heading to St. Louis to spend Christmas and New Years with family.

Once we get back home, we’ll be resting up for a day or two and then packing our bags to spend two whole weeks in Bali! I’ve been wanting to go to Bali for a very long time, so I’m pretty excited about this new adventure!

Needless to say, I won’t be around much over the next few weeks. I’ll still be checking in on social media, of course. And I’ll be filming lots of great footage to compile a Bali travel vlog for you when I get home. But I won’t be updating the blog or YouTube for nearly three weeks.

Boho Berry Paperie will remain open during my absence thanks to my amazing assistant, Candace. She’s taking on the task of packing and shipping all orders for me while I’m away, and I’m SO grateful to her for that!

I’ve been working around the clock to make sure that we have enough stickers in stock to cover my absence. I’ve done my best to estimate a good quantity, but it’s possible that some items may sell out more quickly than others.

All current orders as of this morning (Wednesday, Dec. 21st) will be shipped out Friday, Dec. 23rd). Any orders from this point forward will be shipped by Candace starting next week.

All of that being said…

I still have a couple of posts up my sleeve before the end of the year, so be sure to keep checking back over the next week. I’ll be doing a 2016 wrap-up as well as a much-requested 2017 set-up post for my Bullet Journal right here on the blog :)

THANK YOU!

Before I go today, I want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement this past year.

Thank you for being the thing that I love the most about my job.

Thank you for being an amazing community that I am proud of and am happy to be a part of!

I can’t wait for your set-up post. I’m moving into my second bujo and I really want to try the calendex but I’m struggling with how to handle already made appointments to be moved over. I’ve thought about listing them all on one page and using that page number for reference since there are just a few. I was curious what your solution was.

I made right after my calendex an appointment-list (6pages) and the number in my calendex referes to the line number.

Oh, I like that idea. Appointments all in one place.

  • I think what sometimes people forget, is that you are one person wearing a LOT of hats. So while your blog was brand new and you had a regular posting schedule that people came to “expect”… you have changed, and the content you have provided has changed, and people need to realize that means that their expectations need to change as well. XOXO Happy holidays and have fun in Bali with Mark.

Have an amazing time in Bali! I am looking forward to those videos. I loved your San Diego trip. As a fellow blogger, I know things get busy with other obligations. Thanks to your stuff about bullet journaling, I have been able to be far more consistent with my blogging plans. I hope you are able to find the right balance!

  • Psst, think you’ve got a couple duplicate sentences at the bottom of your post:

“Once we get back home, we’ll be resting up for a day or two and then packing our bags to spend two whole weeks in Bali! I’ve been wanting to go to Bali for a very long time, so I’m pretty excited about this new adventure! Needless to say, I won’t be around much over the next few weeks. Have fun in Bali!
